Can my cat benefit from chiropractic?

Yes, even your feline friend can benefit from chiropractic care!

Although the majority of my animal practice are dogs, I do work on cats too.   While some cat owners can’t imagine their cat allowing me to adjust their spine I assure them that the adjustment is gentle and many cats actually enjoy it.  With the growing number of obese cats, I see an increase in spinal problems.  Think of all the added stress that a belly hanging to the floor can create, especially over an extended period of time.  Whether your furry feline is showing symptoms or not, it’s recommended that you get your cat’s spine checked before it becomes an issue.

The most common symptoms I see in cats that may benefit from animal chiropractic include:

  • Slow moving up or down stairs
  • Inability to jump onto couch or perch; hesitation to jump
  • Inability to get into litter box, resulting in accidents outside their box
  • Disliking being pet or brushed in hind end
  • Excess licking of legsCat sacral adjustment
  • No longer or reduced grooming behavior
  • Incontinence or constipation
  • Stiff walking or poor gait
  • Pain upon picking up the cat
  • Limping or dragging toes

Although these symptoms can signal other problems that may need veterinary attention, remember that animal chiropractic care may be an option for your feline friend.
